Love it or hate, Christmas 2018 is on its way, and if you intend to dazzle throughout the holiday season, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your Christmas Nails and planning your party wardrobe.

As someone who embraces the festive season with perhaps a little more furore than one should, I simply cannot wait to transform my talons with a sprinkling of Christmassy sparkle. Over the years, my Christmas Nails have become quite a talking point in the salon, but having already done the Santa Nails, the Candy Cane Nails, and the bauble embellished Christmas Tree Nails, I’ve decided to keep it classy this year.

Typing ‘Christmas Nails’ in Google gets you a whopping 153,000,000 results in 0.25 seconds, and so we can be in no doubt that festive nails are one of the season’s biggest fashion trends. There are thousands of pictures on Pinterest, hundreds of tutorials on YouTube, and just about every woman’s magazine has an article on how to make your nails twinkle this festive season with Christmas Nail Art, and so there’s plenty of inspiration out there girls, you just need to know where to look!

Biggest Christmas Nail Trends 2018

Reindeer nails are always fun, as are snowmen nails and snowflake nails, but there are three key words when it comes to Christmas Nails 2018 and they are Glitter, Ombre and Metallic.

Grown up glitter made a surprising comeback in 2018, and if the latest runway collections are anything to go by, this make up and nail trend is set to stick around well into the new year. Glitter eyes, glitter lips, and glitter nails are the perfect way to add sophisticated sparkle to your everyday look, and when done right, it can leave you looking and feeling more glamorous than ever before.

Leading international nail polish brands such as CND Shellac, OPI, Gelish and China Glaze have all added glitter nail polishes to their Christmas Gel Nail Collections this year, and so there is no reason why you cannot add a sprinkling of sparkle to your next professional manicure. Here’s what you should be looking out for…

Shellac Christmas Nail Colours

If Shellac is your preferred nail polish brand, take a look at their Creative Play Collection where you’ll find a fabulous selection of festive shades enhanced with glitter. Dazzleberry, a gorgeous deep pink with speckles of silver, gold and violet is a particular favourite, and the Bling Toss is resplendent in silver, but I find myself drawn to Glittabulous, a fabulous opaque shade with multi-colour glitter, which will go with everything from your LBD to your Christmas Day Jumper.

Christmas Nails by OPI

If there is one nail polish brand that truly embraces the festive season, it would have to be OPI who launch a Holiday Collection every year. This year they have taken inspiration from Disney’s new movie ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ and released a dazzling display of limited edition glitter nail polishes that guarantee to get you noticed this Christmas.

Gold Key to the Kingdom will give you gorgeous gold glitter nails, while Dreams on a Silver Platter will give your nails a shimmering silver hue. The nail colours in this collection are just sooo Christmassy, and they are available in both GelColor and Infinite Nail Lacquer.

Getting Christmas Nail Ready with Gelish

Gelish has been making glitter nail polish for years, and so its easy to find your perfect Christmas Nail Colour in their vast varnish collection. Life of the Party, a vibrant red bursting with glitter is the obvious choice for the office diva, while Berry Merry Holidays is suited those who prefer subtle shimmer to full on tinsel town glamour. For a bit of fun, ask your nail tech for Girls Night Out, or keep it super subtle with Sledging in Style.

Fierce, Festive & Fabulous with China Glaze Nail Lacquer

China Glaze has embraced the festive season once again this year by releasing a gorgeous collection of nail colours called The Glam Finale. Inspired by this seasons biggest nail trends, this eye-catching range includes 12 dazzling polishes in total with names such as Disco Ball Drop, Big Hair Bubbly, Teal the Fever, Don’t Be A Snow Flake, and my personal favourite, Sleigh Bells Ring. Fun, fabulous, and designed to make you stand out this Christmas, these sparkly sensations guarantee to put a twinkle in your silent night.

Christmas Nails 2018 – It’s All About the Ombre Hombre!

If you think that the gorgeous graduation of Ombre is only for your hair, think again! This fabulous colour blending technique is now practiced in nail salons around the world, and if you love the idea of a little nail art this Christmas that won’t leave you looking like one of Santa’s helpers, Ombre Nails could be the perfect choice for your next manicure.

By seamlessly blending two, three or even four metallic and glitter shades, your nail technician will transform your nails into fabulously festive works of art. Gold and red work exceptionally well here, as do silver and blue, but you can create Ombre Nail Art using any colours you like, so why not be creative, and design a set of Christmas nails that will dazzle well into the New Year.

When it comes to Christmas Nails the styling options are virtually endless, so pull on your favourite pjs, grab a glass of wine, and head online to find your festive nail inspiration this weekend – Christmas is just around the corner – and a girl needs to be ready!
