How to Use Nail Stampers

Want a quick and easy manicure? Try nail stampers. If you want creative nail designs but you don’t have the steadiest of hands, you’ll love them. Here’s our guide to creating an eye-catching mani.
The Tools of the Trade
If you want to create gorgeous nail designs with nail stampers, you’ll need;
- A stamping plate
- A rubber stamper
- A scraper
- A paper towel
- Cotton buds (paper, of course)
- Nail polish remover
- Tape (scotch tape is perfect)
- Topcoat
How to use Nail Stampers
Step 1
Apply a coat of your chosen base colour. Make sure it’s dry then apply 1-2 coats of topcoat.
Step 2
Apply your chosen nail polish all over your nail stamper. Use the scraper to go over the nail polish. This takes off any excess. The nail polish should be in the grooves of the stamper design.
Step 3
It’s stamping time! Take your stamper and position it where you want the design to be. In one firm movement, press the stamper on your nail. Don’t move or lift the stamper. After doing each nail, wipe the stamper with a paper towel to remove any dried nail polish.
Step 4
Use your sticky tape to remove any nail polish residue from the stamper. Dip a cotton bud in nail polish remover and use it to remove any nail polish from the sides of your nails.
Step 5
Once your design is dry, apply a layer of topcoat to finish.

What to do if nail polish has dried on the stamper
You can avoid this by working quickly. If it happens, just use scotch tape to remove it.
My design looks a bit drab
If you want an eye-catching design, use bright, vibrant colours. This is not the time for sheer polishes.
My nails look nothing like I imagined
Don’t use nail polishes that are past their best as your design just won’t look right. Try not to use glitters either, as they can stick to the stamper plate and spoil the design.
